Front sight blade is an old replacement. An attractive Indian War period modified and used Spencer carbine from the Civil War. While this carbine does not appear in the Springfield Research Service serial number lists, Spencer #36897 is listed as being in the possession of Troop I of the 3rd Michigan Cavalry in June of 1865.
